Our Culture
When working in Novo Nordisk, you get the feeling of a special company culture. We have our way of doing things. This culture has developed since the 1920s – it is our heritage, built on the work of past and present Novo Nordisk employees. The way we do things is called the Novo Nordisk Way of Management.
The Novo Nordisk Way of Management consists of three elements: Our Vision, the Charter – describing our Values, Commitments and Fundamentals – and our Policies.
The Novo Nordisk Way of Management applies to every employee and manager around the world, at headquarters, in affiliates and in service companies. The Novo Nordisk Way of Management is the framework within which we all work, and it helps us to grow our culture of empowerment and innovation – of coaching and learning – of business and people. Rather than restricting us, this framework expands our options because the principles for how to work and behave as an employee of Novo Nordisk are clear.
The Novo Nordisk Way of Management is our culture and our identity, our history and our future. Because it is based on sound business principles, the Novo Nordisk Way of Management ensures the long-term growth and welfare of the company.
Our Vision
Our Vision paints a picture of what Novo Nordisk wants to achieve as a company – our place in the market and our overall goals in relation to patients, society and employees.
The Charter
How we act is described in the Charter. The Charter describes our Values, Commitments and Fundamentals – our basic management principles. Novo Nordisk has adopted the Charter for companies in the Novo Group – we commit ourselves to act inside this framework.
Policies
Further guidance on specific operational issues is given in our Policies. We have chosen twelve areas where mutual understanding will help us operate: communication, environment, finance, health and safety, information technology, legal, people, purchasing, quality, risk management, global health and bioethics policy. The policies give operational guidelines within these areas.
